Bishop Sutton Weather Station

Personal weather station
Personal weather records have been mantained at the home (altitude 72 metres) of Robert Montgomery in Bishop Sutton, which is a village in the Chew Valley to the north east of the Mendip Hills, in North East Somerset, England since December 2008. The above photo is of the skyline in Bishop Sutton looking towards the Mendip Hills.
Data was originally recorded by a very basic weather station which produced unreliable temperature readings on sunny summer days. On the 17th of July 2010 the weather station was replaced by a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station fitted with a daytime fan assisted radiation shield (see photo below) which produces more accurate temperature readings in all weather conditions.
It is located on a lawn in a
small back garden. The radiation shield is positioned 1.2 metres
above ground level. The Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station
anemometer was originally 3 metres above ground level and was
somewhat sheltered from winds with an easterly component. On the
8th of November 2011 the anemometer was fitted to the television
aerial on the roof of my house (see photo below). It is at an
estimated height of at least 8 metres above ground level and is now
fully exposed to winds from all directions.
